Family

This past weekend was the Big Fat Greek Wedding - aka Lauren and Justin's Big Party! What a fun weekend it was. Here are some of the cousins playing together at the park in my parents' neighborhood on Saturday morning. Sophie is 8 and Cole is 3 (smack in the middle between Brett and Kate). He and Brett loved playing cars together, too! Sophie got a kick out of the massive amount of American Girl Doll stuff in my parents' attic.

Bow holders

These are two bow holders that I've done - one I did awhile ago for Kate, and I probably have enough bows to fill up a second one for her! The blue and brown one I just did for a friend with 3 girls - notice that I had the thought to add an extra ribbon for more bow storage this time around :) They're pretty easy to do yourself, or, if you would like me to do one, just ask! They start at $20 - the colors are completely up to you!

 

 

Take me out to the ball game...

We made a little last minute decision and took the kids to the Durham Bulls Game on Friday night. The game started at 7:00, and by 7:30 Brett was asking if we could go home. I think we'll stick with the 5:00 games for a little while longer, and aim for the seats that aren't in the direct path of every foul ball! It was still fun, and we couldn't have asked for any better weather. It was GORGEOUS!

 

 

Egg Hunt

Excuse the delay, but here are a few (blurry) pictures from Brett's class Easter Egg Hunt last week. Of course, it was the only chilly, slightly damp day the entire week. Every other day was 80 and beautiful. Oh well! The kids didn't care one single bit. They had over 200 eggs that were gone within about 2 minutes!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

I can't believe it, but we've (read: I've) had this blog up and running for 2 whole years! Woah! I've become really really really bad at updating the baby books for the kids, so one day I'll have to sit down with the books and the blog and fill in the blanks.

I wonder how many times I've re-done this blog - the title, the main picture, the background, the formatting. Hmm... probably a gazillion. It has taught me a lot about writing some basic code and other little tricks here and there. I have to say I'm pretty proud of how much I've learned on my own during this little adventure!

A boy, a girl, and some airplanes

The kids have been on spring break this week. We started their spring break with a visit from Grandma and Grandpa, then a visit to South Carolina to see Aunt Renee, and then everyone went back to work except for the kids and I. Despite the "yellow season," we headed to the observation deck at RDU to enjoy a picnic lunch and some play time. For those of you that don't know what the yellow season is, you clearly aren't from here! It is the nastiness that is the massive amount of pollen coating EVERYTHING in thick yellow dust and it's disgusting. I decided, though, that it didn't matter. It was about 85 degrees out, and I knew the kids were going to want to play in the sand, so I figured they'd get a bath when we got home either way. Funny story... after we'd been out there for an hour or so, Kate decided to dump a handfull of sand down the back of my shirt... it wouldn't have been so bad except that my back was all sweaty since it was so warm, and the back of my shorts were gapped because of the way I was sitting. I had sand in places that sand just shouldn't be! Needless to say, that was the end of our airplane watching for the day! Thanks, Kate.

Scavenger Hunt

My mom started this tradition with us (me, Erin, and Meredith) when we were younger, and it has become this big Easter tradition. Rather than going on an Easter egg hunt, the Easter bunny leaves one clue in each child's basket and they have to go on a scavenger hunt around the house to find all of the loot from "E. Bunny." The kids obviously can't read the clues, but once we read the clue to them, they're off!

Play Nation!

This is a couple weeks old, but I still wanted to share a few pictures from Brett's Shining Star class play date at Play Nation one rainy Friday morning. Two of the moms in the class organized it sort of last minute once we all realized that Friday was going to be rainy and nasty after an otherwise beautiful week. The kids had a great time getting to see each other and play outside of school!

Easter Brunch

We went to Rose Cottage for Easter Brunch. It wasn't the most kid-friendly place, but the kids (well, Brett) did a decent job sitting still and eating lunch. That kid can seriously put away from homemade Mac 'n Cheese! Yum! Haha! Kate remembered that she loves sweet potatoes and we just went with it!

 

 

 

 

Easter Eggs

I had really good intentions on coloring Easter eggs with the kids this week, but we just ran out of time before we left for South Carolina. Luckily, Aunt Renee thought it would be great for the kids to do, so that's what we did tonight after dinner. I think that Renee and I had more fun than the kids (check out my polka dots and her UF egg), but I'm glad we did it either way.
