Happy 3rd birthday sweet little Kate! Something about 3 sounds so much older than 2, don't you think? It's been a big year for Kate - she's learned so much in such a short amount of time. Rather than duplicating the post, you can check out her growth chart page for the whole post of the cool (and not-so-cool) things she can do! First haircut

After 3 years of growing out that gorgeous curly hair, I decided it was finally time to trim it up a little bit. You can't tell from these pictures, but when her hair was wet, it went all the way down her back, and then curled into these little spiral ringlets when it dried. Brett's first haircut was at 10 months old. Kate was 9 days shy of her 3rd birthday. It was a much different experience, to say the least! She did SOOOOO well sitting very still for Tiffani!

Tiffani has been cutting Todd's hair for close to 10 years my hair for almost 7 years... we like her so much, we drive all the way to down town Wake Forrest just to get our hair cut!

Ka-boom-pow!

We went to the fireworks on Saturday night with Memere, Poppy, and Aunt Dithy. Memere and Poppy's friends, Robert and Donna, met us out there too. Donna babysat for me when I was really little. She is the only person in the world that can call me Jenny and get away with it :) We also ran into our friends, the Hixson's. Kelly used to work with Aunt Erin at Durant and has a son Brett's age and the cutest little girl you've ever seen. A little later, our friends, the Jong's, found us and joined us while we all waited for the fireworks. James used to work with Todd... well they both still work at IBM, but not really with each other. They have 2 daughters, one is almost 5 and the other is just a couple months younger than Kate. It was nice that the kids all got to play together. I'm pretty sure that Kate talked James's ear off though!

The fireworks were LAME this year at Brier Creek, but the kids didn't know any better. Brett kept ducking behind Todd's chair, hiding from the fireworks!

Independence Day Car Show

Brier Creek (a major subdivision about 10 minutes from us) had their July 4th celebration on July 3rd. We went there last year and it was fantastic. This year, they had a craft show and a car show in the afternoon. We knew that Brett would (obviously) LOVE the car show. Unfortunately, we thought it lasted until 7pm, but it really lasted until only 5pm, and we got there about 5:15, just as about 10-15 of the cars were pullling out of the parking lot. There were still a few there, though, which Brett thought was just fine. The owner of one of the cars even let Brett climb in - he was in heaven! Afterwards, we met Memere, Poppy, and Aunt Dithy at Carolina Ale House for dinner before the fireworks.

Blog updates and stuff

I promise that I do have pictures and video to post from this weekend's festivities. Yes, we did go see the fireworks. Yes, we did go to the pool, twice. And yes, we did go stimulate the economy. I'm really good at that :) I'll post the pictures and stuff later, I promise.

I did want to point out that I have updated some stuff on the blog that you probably don't pay attention to very often. The kids "growth chart" pages are both updated. Well, Brett's actually has a new post since he just turned 4. Kate's will have a new post soon. In fact, I've already started writing the new post, but her birthday is still 10 days away. I also added their birth stories to their growth chart pages because someone asked me about it awhile ago, and I actually remembered!

I updated our wedding pictures and stuff too - just click on the picture of Todd and I and it will take you there.

In the next month we'll add to the beach blog (since we're going to the beach for a week) and the WPWTW blog, after our trip to Indiana/Illinois early next month.

Vacation

I'm so ready for vacation right now, I just can't stand it.

We'll be here for a week with the family (Ocean Isle Beach, NC):


and we'll be here for 4 days with our WPWTW friends (Indiana Dunes National Park):



You don't know what WPWTW stands for? Wedding Party Without the Wedding... the same group of guys that were in each other's weddings are now all married and all have at least 1 kid, with more on the way everytime we turn around. This is our way to pull ourselves together from across the country for a few days of absolute chaotic fun.
