party details

Brett's party is this Saturday - 18 adults and 11 kids (9 of which are under the age of 3). Today is Wednesday, LATE on Wednesday, and I'm only beginning to get ready for it. With my Type A personality, it's definitely putting me in stress mode! I haven't even ordered food yet (note to self: order food before bed tonight). Anyway, at least the stress isn't stifling my creativity. It's obviously a Cars theme - what else would Brett want?! I think I'm going to do some of the food out of one or two of his bigger cars or trucks, and I got a big checkered flag for the mailbox, and I painted some signs to look like the bilboards from the movie. I got a giant roll of white paper to put on the kids' table and draw a track on it - we'll see if I get to that or not! I even made license plates for the kids to decorate (with washable crayons). And, of course, we have LOTS of cars for everyone to play with!

Here are the invitations:

These are the goodie bags for all of the kids - the bags are black and the circles are glued on to look like stop lights. I wrote all of the names on the yellow circle. Inside the bag is a new pack of crayons (Crayola washable, of course!), each kids' very own coloring book, and a sheet of stickers.

I'll post some more pictures of the decorations and stuff eventually. We'll definitely get pictures of Brett and his friends!!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Brett!

Brett turned 2 on Saturday, the 24th. It's hard to believe that it's already been two years because it has seriously flown by! I had to work that day, so we let him open his presents on Friday morning. He was so excited to get "CARS!" That's what he said he was getting when I asked him - little stinker! He definitely got a good spread - cars, cars, and more cars, a soccer goal, a pool, a train track - and that's just to name a few! Todd even took him to see the airplanes!

big boy bed!

It's official - Brett is now in a big boy bed! Well, actually, it's just his crib converted to a toddler bed, but he now has the ability to get in (and out) all by himself. He's currently using the ability to get out more often than desired during naptime, but we're working on it. Last night went 100% smooth. He went down at 8pm and did not make a peep. Todd checked in on him at 6:30 this morning and he was still sound asleep in his bed. When I went in at 7:00 he was standing in front of his door, McQueen in one hand, blanket in the other, waiting to be let out of his room. (We haven't mastered doorknobs yet - thank God!)

4 generations

Last week, we all went to the booming metropolis of Fuquay (haha!) to go see Memere, or Great Memere depending on who you ask. Brett thought it was great - all of these big open halls to zoom cars down. Kate wasn't really so sure, but warmed up pretty fast. Afterwards, we went and took Brett for his first Taco Bell lunch :) He loved sharing a taco combo meal with mommy!

tape & paint

We're going to (finally) paint our bonus room this weekend! Yay! If you don't have any better plans on Friday, you can come help us tape... I know you're excited. We'll paint on Saturday while Memere and Poppy watch the munchkins. We'll take any painting volunteers too :)

mischevious naked baby

She finds the one little gap in the gate and goes RIGHT for it - every time!

no pics!

Daddy went fishing with the boys this weekend, and took his camera, with the SD card, with him! Oops! We'll post some pics from this week once he gets home.

On a different note - Kate learned a new trick this week. She can now CLIMB THE STEPS! Oh NO!

make that FIVE!

Kate's fifth tooth came in with a bang on Tuesday, followed by a long night of very little sleep. Our little drama queen!

feeding time at the zoo

Kate is totally the instigator... at least in this picture. Brett does his fair share too.

Unfortunately, the highchair is right next to the blinds... Kate's new favorite toy, no matter how many times we all tell her "no."
