Brett's class is starting to learn about money - specifically coins. His teacher told them that their homework this weekend was to set up a store for their family and let their family shop. Brett was so excited - he couldn't wait!  First, he went around the toy room collecting various things.  Then, he cut up pieces of paper to write the price.  Finally, he stole borrowed my good tape to adhere the signs.  Then his shop was open for business!  Daddy was the first one to shop - he bought a car for 2 cents.  Brett wanted me to shop, but I was still cleaning up from dinner and washing dishes.  I had to pull a Mrs. Lyles and remind him, "Work first, then play" using the signs that she always uses.  Brett rolled his eyes at me.  I have no idea where on Earth he gets that?! 

 

 

 

In other news, Brett finally has a loose tooth.  He kept telling me last weekend that his tooth hurt, so I sort of figured it was going to be loose soon.  Truthfully, I'm glad he finally has a loose tooth.  Every time he tells me about one of his friends losing a tooth, he's sort of sad and gloomy about it.  Maybe he thinks he's missing out or something.  He wriggles it all the time, so I'm sure we'll be posting about his first lost tooth very soon!

Also, he learned how to tie his shoes completely by himself this week!!  It's a fun time being almost 6 :)

Just keep swimming!

Swimming lessons - we have a love-hate relationship.  I hated them when I was little (yes, Mom, I still have very vivid memories of the Wilson Acres pool), and I still sort of dread them now as an adult.  The kids are in a beginning-level class mostly because they haven't been in a pool since last September and I didn't want them to get scared during the first class and then dread it the entire session.  Kate was all about it at the beginning while Brett was more apprehensive.  Yesterday was their last class... Brett was completely into it and could easily do anything asked while Kate was petrified to do almost anything.  Go figure.  Their April schedule is scattered, at best, so I'm waiting to see what the May swim schedule brings.

Their teacher was good, but he was a high school kid.  I wish he'd pushed them harder, but oh well.

International Festival

This year the preschool decided to change it up and skip our usual Mardi Gras Festival and host an International Festival in celebration of the preschool's 20th anniversary and the retirement of the current director who opened the preschool. It was a big undertaking, to say the least... it always is, especially when you're doing something new. I can definitely say that it was bigger and better than any of us anticipated. I hope that they continue to do this awesome festival in the spring :)

Rainbow Room Birthday

Long time, no post! We've just been busy living our crazy little life... and enjoying this gorgeous weather!

Last weekend was completely action-packed, maybe even too packed! It started with Todd flying in LATE Friday night from his work trip. Then we were up and in a hurry immediately on Saturday. I was in charge of the volunteers for the preschool's first ever International Festival (more on that later - it was a HUGE success!!); the kids had swimming lessons; and we had a birthday party... our good friend, B! We love this kid and his funny sweet family!
