Hello! We are here... sorry for the serious lack of pictures lately!

Here is a quick picture of the kids opening their Valentine's day stuff. Nothing super-exciting, trust me. They had already opened goodies from Grandma and Grandpa earlier in the week, so these bags were just re-used from that. We only gave them some spring clothes and one book each. They were mildly excited about their new books, but definitely not excited about the clothes!

This one is from this past Saturday when we went to the Craters with the Jongs and the Mericles. The plan was to get together with the husbands and 10 kids and have a fun, relaxing brunch. Here is a picture of at least a sampling of all 4 families.

The kids played well together and it was good to catch up for a little bit. Unfortunately, Brett was being silly on a step in their kitchen and fell. We tried to see if he would just walk it off and be magically better in a few minutes. Sarah even made him a PB&J because it's his favorite food ever. After several minutes, he was still crying some and grabbing the outside of his foot, so off we went. Conveniently (not) the pediatrician closes at 12:00 on Saturdays and it was 12:15. I refused to go to the ER for something that was not a true emergency because we'd be there forEVER, and I knew that urgent care would maybe do a quick x-ray and then who knows what. But, thanks to my Saturdays spent at Target, I remembered that Raleigh Orthopaedic has walk-in clinic hours at night and on Saturdays until 2:00. They were great. They took us back almost immediately and talked it all through with Brett so that he stayed calm. Turns out, he sprained his foot and will be in a boot until at least mid next week. Then we'll go back to see the Pediatric Ortho guy and make sure that everything checks out ok. Apparently, when you take x-rays of kids feet, they all look weird and kind of broken because they're still growing so much and so fast. So they'll make sure that his foot looks "normal." Brett thinks the boot is pretty cool - it's definitely a conversation piece for him at school :) I'll take a picture and post it soon, I promise!

Auto Show 2010

While I went to my cousin's bridal shower today, Todd, my dad, and my brother-in-law, Jeff, took the kids to the NC Auto Show. Yes, it was just Kate and her boys (that's what she calls them - HER boys)! We've taken the kids every year and they LOVE it. They get to climb in all of these cars and run around and have fun. I asked Brett what his favorite car was and he told me that it was the blue Mustang, and then he remembered that he saw Bumblebee from Transformers. I could see the wheels turning in his head - trying to decide which of the two was truly his favorite! It's a tough decision in the eyes of a 3 year old!

I almost forgot - we have Milo, the monkey, home with us this weekend. He is Brett's class pet. Milo just HAD to go to the auto show too!

Snow, again...

North Carolina in the winter... those words don't generally generate the thought of snow, unless you live in the mountains, which we don't. It certainly doesn't generate the thought of two snow storms in two weeks. Here we are, with snow, again. Our snow from 2 weeks hadn't even melted completely yet! At least this snow storm was actually just snow and not ice and sleet and freezing rain. For that, I am thankful!

This is the remnant of our snow man from 2 weeks ago. The kids thought it was hilarious that it had toppled over on its side while they were at school one day!

Wake Med

Our friends, the Craters, have 3 girls - a 4 year old, and a set of 3 year old twins. The twins were born at 27 weeks! Recently, Wake Med contacted them about appearing in their new ad campaign. You should really check it out! It's heartbreaking to think about what they went through for so long, but it is so inspiring to see them running around like typical 3 year olds today!

Their commercial aired last night on NBC during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. How cool is that?! To read their story, click HERE.

Superbowl Party

Todd went to a Superbowl party at a neighbor's house tonight, so the kids and I had a Superbowl party of our own. They got to eat dinner at their little table, conviently moved in front of the TV. Brett is really into the game this year, or at least the "Superbowl" concept because his Monkey class had a Superbowl Party. I never would've thought about having a Superbowl party with 3 and 4 year olds, but the kids LOVED it! They got to vote on their favorite team and come dressed in their favorite sports gear and everything. One of his teachers is a true Green Bay Packer fan, complete with #4 Favre jersey and everything. Apparently they took a picture of Brett and Ms. Kathryn in their matching jerseys :)

OMG!

Yes, this weather has frustrated me to the point that I'm now typing like a 13 year old girl - OMG! This is nothing to LMAO about, that's for sure! I know that it is only early February and it is suppose to be cold, but give me a freakin' break. It snowed on FRIDAY and it is now THURSDAY and this mess is still not gone. In fact, it cancelled school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and gave them a delay today. For all of you mid-westerners out there reading this blog, we only got 4 inches. Yes. You read that right. All of this cancelled school, etc. for FOUR inches of snow, which then thawed, and re-froze, and thawed, and re-froze. And now this is what is in the forecast for the next 48 hours. Awesome. NOT!


My kids, who are supposed to love this stuff, are tired of it too. Brett asked me today why our snowman will not melt. Poor kid. At least he did get to go to school for 3 hours today... granted, I paid 22 hours worth of tuition this week... those sure are 3 expensive hours!

Ok, I'm done whining, for now. But if we are stuck inside again next week... well, we won't go there!
