Best snowman EVER

This is what Brett has to say about the snowman that we (Todd) built after church today, courtesy of the 5 inches of snow/sleet/freezing rain that we got Friday night and Saturday. Of course, not only is this the best snowman ever, it is also his first snowman ever! Brett is very enthusiastic playing in the snow - running around, sledding down the ditch in the front yard and being all boy! Kate is not so sure about all of this white stuff just yet. Maybe next year.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Well, the weather people actually got it right this time - we have SNOW! Kind of ironic considering my last post was all about how warm it was, including pictures of the kids outside with no jackets on! Oh, wait - that was the same scenario exactly 24 hours before this snow started too! Gotta love crazy winters in North Carolina, huh?! Anyway, I haven't taken any pictures yet, but we have about 4-5 inches maybe. Everything is definitely covered, but right now it's just freezing rain. Yuck. It started yesterday around 7pm and it's supposed to last well into tonight, so we'll see what the grand total is. Of course, this is my weekend to work. And, of course, our company headquarters is in Minneapolis where they don't believe we should *ever* close for snow. Meaning, of course, my butt has to actually get to work today to fill the 10 prescriptions for the morons who have had their prescription for 3 months but decide that today is the day that they MUST get it filled. Awesome. I'm definitely not bitter.

The kids haven't seen it yet, so it should be entertaining in about T minus 3 minutes! We have their sleds and snow pants ready to go, courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa! Stay tuned for pictures!

Castle Park

We're still taking advantage of this beautiful warm-ish weather before it gets COLD again tomorrow. My sister, Meredith, and I took the kids to the "Castle Park" on Monday, along with most of Raleigh! This park is about 20-25 minutes from our house, depending on traffic, but as you can see it is WAY cool! The whole thing is like a giant castle with wobbly bridges and hidden passages and everything. If you ever do take your kids there - I have one recommendation. Dress them in super-bright colors because it is easy to misplace them!

Beautiful!

That is the only word to describe the weather the last 2 days - beautiful! Yesterday was 60 and completely sunny. It doesn't get much better than that in January. Needless to say, we took full advantage of the warmer temperatures and spent some time outside while we (finally) pulled down the Christmas lights off the house. Don't worry - we unplugged them last week!

Happy (half) birthday!

I can't believe that my "baby" is 2 and a half years old! How time flies when you're having fun :) I had a rare Friday morning off with both kids, so we headed over to Planet Child in Cary with our friends, the Craters. Their oldest daughter was in school that day, so we only had 4 of the kids with us, but I think they all had fun! We attempted a picture of all of them together... what you see is what you get!

Check it OUT!

I had to share this because I think it is so phenomenal... my cousin, Taylor, is doing a photo a day. I can only WISH that I was even half as good of a photographer as he is. You should really check it out!

He does amazing work with kids too - probably all that time with his adorable niece and nephew!

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

There is something about a young child's face on Christmas morning that is simply priceless. This year, we had both sets of grandparents and two of our sisters all at our house at "seven zero zero" to witness the true excitement that only Santa can bring!

Christmas Eve, on our way to mass

Sprinking the reindeer food on our lawn - we wouldn't want them to get hungry, right?!

Sweet girl

Reading bedtime stories with Aunt Renee

Sneaky boy took a bite of one of Santa's cookies!

Writing our letter to Santa

Mildly excited!

"Santa brought me presents!"

Kate wasn't quite so sure what was going on...

But after fixing the "crazy hair" and a few stickers, all was good again

She opened a few presents, then demanded that she drink milk

I wish you could see Brett's face... he had wanted this for SOOOOO long!

Kate and her "princess puppy"

Ready for our "snow dusting" tomorrow that has already delayed school for 2 hours...
gotta love NC!

One word - PRICELESS!

Happy boy

Even the adults got to be a little crazy

The fireman came - oh wait, it's just Aunt Renee!

One of the favorite toys - anything to zoom some cars off of!

Kate dressed in Brett's new fireman gear

Kate left all of her presents to go upstairs and read in bed with her new Dora

Silly kids in Kate's new tent
